Custom Laser Cutting

CNC Bending

A computer-controlled machine called a press brake folds flat metal sheets along straight lines to make 3D shapes like boxes, brackets, and enclosures. The computer hits the same angle every time, so every part comes out matching. We also bend tubes for frames and railings.

Metal Stamping

A heavy press squeezes a hardened steel tool (a die) into a strip of metal to cut and shape parts in seconds, kind of like a giant cookie cutter. TIG Welding

A skilled welder uses one hand to hold a small electric torch and the other to feed in a metal filler rod, joining two parts with a clean, neat bead. It is slower than other welding, but the finish looks great with no splatter, so it is the go-to for thin aluminum, stainless steel, and parts people will actually see. Gas-Shielded (MIG) Welding

A wire automatically feeds through a gun while a shield of gas keeps the weld clean from air. It is much faster than TIG, so it is the workhorse for thicker steel parts, frames, and weldments that need to be strong but do not have to look perfect. Robots can run it 24/7 for high-volume work.

Laser & Resistance Welding

Laser welding uses a tiny, super-hot laser beam to fuse parts together at high speed without warping them, perfect for delicate or thin parts. Resistance (spot) welding sends a quick burst of electricity through two overlapping sheets to make a strong dot-shaped joint in under a second, which is how car bodies get put together.

How much does custom metal fabrication cost?

Per-part cost depends on material, thickness, cuts, bends, and welds. Typical ranges: simple laser-cut and bent bracket $3–$15, stamped hardware part $0.30–$5, welded weldment $40–$500+, large structural weldment $500–$5,000+. See our 2026 part pricing guide.

What is the lead time for fabricated and welded parts?

Laser-cut prototypes ship in 5–10 days. Welded prototype assemblies 2–3 weeks. Stamping tooling 4–10 weeks, then 1–2 weeks per production batch. Robotic-welded production typically 3–4 weeks per release.

What welding processes do you offer?

TIG (GTAW), MIG / gas-shielded (GMAW), laser welding, and resistance (spot) welding. Procedures qualified to AWS D1.1 with visual, dye-penetrant, and X-ray NDT available.

What tolerances can you hold?

Laser cutting ±0.1 mm, press-brake bending ±0.5° on angles and ±0.1 to 0.2 mm linear, stamping ±0.05 mm, welded assemblies ±0.5 mm overall, robotic weld seams ±0.3 mm. ISO 2768-mK is the general standard.

What is the minimum order quantity?

No MOQ on laser cutting, bending, and welding. We run single-piece prototypes daily. For stamping, practical MOQ is 5,000–10,000 parts to amortize hard tooling. Soft-tool sample runs of 100–500 are possible.

Fabrication vs casting: which should I choose?

Fabrication wins for sheet, plate, and tube parts, low-to-mid volumes, and designs that change often (no hard tooling). Casting wins for thick-walled, complex 3D shapes at volumes above 1,000 parts where tooling cost is justified.

Do you finish and assemble after welding?

Yes. Grinding, deburring, blasting, powder coating, anodizing, electropolishing, zinc plating, galvanizing, and final mechanical assembly with hardware install are all in-house.

Can you weld aluminum and stainless steel?

Yes. AWS D1.1 procedures cover steel; TIG welding handles aluminum (1100, 3003, 5052, 6061) and stainless (304/304L, 316/316L) with proper purging and shielding. Cosmetic seamless welds are our specialty.

What certifications does Meco hold?

IATF 16949:2016 (which includes all ISO 9001:2015 requirements). Quality processes cover APQP, PPAP, SPC, PFMEA, and CMM inspection. EN 10204 3.1 material certifications available on request.
