Metal Heat Treatment Services Capabilities
Precision thermal processing designed to enhance material properties, durability, and performance.
Annealing
We heat metal to a specific temperature and cool it slowly to soften the structure. This relieves internal stresses and refines the grain, making the material significantly easier to machine or cold form.
- Increase Ductility
- Refine Grain Structure
Quenching & Tempering
A two-stage process for superior performance. Parts are rapidly cooled (quenched) to harden, followed by controlled reheating (tempering) to achieve the perfect balance of hardness and toughness.
- Superior Toughness
- Reduced Brittleness
Case Hardening
Ideal for gears and shafts, this process diffuses carbon into the surface of the metal. The result is a wear-resistant outer layer (case) while maintaining a tough, impact-resistant core.
- Wear-Resistant Surface
- Impact-Resistant Core

Heat Treating FAQ
What is the purpose of heat treating metal?
The primary purpose is to purposefully change a metal’s mechanical properties. It allows you to make a metal harder, softer, or tougher; increase its wear resistance; improve its machinability; or stabilize its dimensions, all without changing the part’s shape.
What is the difference between hardening and annealing?
They are essentially opposite processes. Hardening (typically through quenching) involves rapid cooling to make a metal harder and more brittle. Annealing involves slow cooling to make a metal softer and more ductile.
Will heat treatment cause my parts to warp?
Distortion is a risk in any thermal process, especially during rapid quenching. However, it can be minimized through proper process selection, controlled heating and cooling rates, and strategic racking of parts in the furnace. Our engineering team specializes in developing processes that mitigate distortion.
What is the difference between "through hardening" and "case hardening"?
Through hardening, achieved via quenching and tempering, aims to create uniform hardness throughout the entire part. Case hardening creates a dual-property part: a very hard surface layer for wear resistance and a softer, tougher core to absorb impact without cracking.
