Laser Welding Services Capabilities

Advanced joining solutions utilizing modern fiber laser technology for precision and strength.

Fiber Laser Welding

We utilize modern fiber lasers, which are ideal for a wide range of metals, including highly reflective materials like aluminum and copper. This technology provides excellent power control, allowing us to switch between deep penetration welds and smooth, aesthetic conduction welds.

  • Reflective Metals (Al, Cu)
  • Precise Power Control

Deep Penetration (Keyhole)

This high-power-density mode creates a deep, narrow weld with an excellent aspect ratio. It produces strong, structural joints with minimal heat input, making it perfect for applications like transmission components and battery enclosures.

  • High Aspect Ratio
  • Structural Integrity

Conduction Welding

This lower-power-density mode melts the material surfaces to create a smooth, wide, and aesthetically pleasing weld bead without significant penetration. It is the ideal process for creating hermetic seals on electronic housings and medical devices.

  • Aesthetic Finish
  • Hermetic Sealing

Laser Welding FAQ

What is laser welding?

Laser welding is a non-contact joining process that uses a focused beam of light to melt and fuse metals. It provides deep penetration with minimal heat input, resulting in high-strength welds with virtually no distortion.

How does it compare to TIG welding?

Laser welding is significantly faster (up to 10x) than manual TIG welding and creates a much smaller Heat Affected Zone (HAZ). This eliminates the need for post-weld grinding or straightening, making it more cost-effective for volume production.

What materials can be laser welded?

We can weld a wide range of metals, including Stainless Steel, Aluminum, Titanium, and Carbon Steel. It is also one of the few methods capable of joining dissimilar metals (e.g., Copper to Aluminum) for battery and electronics applications.

Does laser welding require filler material?

Typically, no. Laser welding is often an autogenous process (fusion only), which reduces consumable costs. However, filler wire can be introduced if the joint fit-up requires it or to adjust metallurgical properties.

What are the fit-up requirements?

Because the laser beam is highly focused (often 0.2mm–0.6mm), part fit-up must be precise. Gaps between parts should generally be less than 10% of the material thickness to ensure a consistent, hermetic seal.
