Forging is a metalworking process in which metal is heated until it is pliable and then formed into various shapes using dies, hammers, presses, or other tools. The primary advantages of forging is that it can produce stronger parts with greater impact resistance. The process also allows for better grain flow throughout the part since it is worked from the inside out; this helps reduce defects and improves product quality overall.
General Development process for a new project: ● Customer Input Customer provides one or more of the following: a. 3D and/or 2D design b. Sketch c. Reference sample d. Description
● Meco Engineering Team Output a.DFM analysis with design proposals b.Engineering support c.3D model and 2D drawing; including tolerance definition, draft, radius recommendation for forging d.Forging streamline analysis(if needed) e.Eddy current testing and ultrasonic testing (if needed) f.Fit clearance, gap, and interference check (3D) g.Preliminary tooling layout presentation specifying parting lines, draft angles, and min fillet radius for forming; subsequent discussion with customer team
● Production/tooling development cycle (30-40 Days)
● Trial Process a. Trial run on forging machines b. Document trial parameters c. Share FAI (First Article Inspection) report with customers
